Scarves

Black and Brown!
An orange scarf is a great color this season!
Well y'all, I am very into scarves right now. Ever since I got to college, I have been trying new things and new fashion out. In high school I never really wore scarves! I mean yes we do live in Texas, but still when it gets cold I love my scarves. You can pair scarves with just about anything! Pair a nice soft light brown scarf with a black and white striped shirt, black pants, and brown boots. I know you are thinking "ugh Kristen brown and black again?" Its cute guys just think about it a little longer. I will put a picture up to show you that it isn't that bad! You can also pair a colored/floral scarf with a black dress, cardi, and some colored tights and brown boots. Can you say adorable? There are so many great ways to pair scarves with your clothes. Y'all all need to try it out especially since it's getting pretty cold!
Dress, cardi, scarf, and some boots!

Leopard print scarf? YES please!

Boots, boots, and MORE boots!

Boots seem to be a must this season! I am obsessed with them myself. I have always been a boot lover, but this season they seem to be everywhere! I have especially been seeing more over the knee boots and I think they are great! Before, I would have never picked them out for myself, but now they are growing on me. You can wear boots with so many things. I love wearing a pair of brown boots with my black jeans. You have to tuck your jeans into the boots, or it just doesn't seem to work! I also love wearing them with skirts and dresses. I like black boots, but I am especially in love with all of the different brown shades. They are so versatile and I believe every girl looks great in them!

The Black and White Striped Shirt

The black and white striped shirt is a must have this season. You can mix and match it with SO many things. I recently bought one from Ann Taylor Loft and it is one of my favorite purchases by far! I love pairing it with my black jeans, but because I don't like too much black, I will put a colored cardi over it and roll the sleeves up. I also will pair the shirt with my grey knit skirt from Ann Taylor Loft and wear colored tights and brown boots. I know a ton of people don't like brown and black together, but I am all for it! (well to a certain extent). Here are some ideas on how to pair your black and white striped shirt!

Tribal Prints

This season, tribal prints are a must! I absolutely love them! At first I wasn't so sure about them just because they aren't something that I would usually wear, but I ended up loving them. There are so many ways tribal prints have been incorporated in fashion. Bags, dresses, blouses, shoes and even nail polish! It is really easy to wear tribal prints and to match them with things because there are so many colors on the tribal prints. I went into Forever21 and Anthropologie the other day and there were so many tribal prints! It made me so happy! So if anyone wants some tribal print cardis or any other piece of clothing, you will definitely be able to find some! Here are some adorable tribal print clothes and shoes...
Adorable nail polish! Wonder how hard that was...

Pair a great tribal print skirt with a chambray top!

Wear a tribal print cardi with a solid plain shirt underneath. The print of the cardi is already enough, so you don't need a crazy print underneath! Keep it simple.

Awesome tribal print boots!

A great sequin tribal print clutch!

Lovely Tailored Jackets

This semester I am currently in a Contemporary and Couture Tailoring class. We are working on a tailored jacket. We recently just finished a pair of tailored wool pants. I have never done a jacket before so this is such great experience for me. I figured out that a jacket pattern contains SO many pattern pieces. I only have about 10 pieces, but one of my friends has 19 pieces! CRAZY! I will be updating on here about how my jacket is coming along as we go! I chose a chocolate brown wool for my jacket to go with my brown plaid wool pants. I am excited to see how my jacket comes out and to learn all of the tailoring and couture techniques.
This is the pattern I chose for my jacket. It is Butterick 5647. It is a great pattern and it is very clear. Love it!

Rachel Zoe at Fashion Week

So, I am pretty much obsessed with Rachel Zoe. She is such a fabulous designer. I was watching E News of course, and they were doing coverage over Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. They were showing Rachel Zoe's 2012 Spring Collection and I immediately fell in love. I love how she uses a lot of neutrals like whites, browns, blacks and creams. I also love how she uses color. She doesn't go overboard with loud colors and prints. She picked some semi-loud prints and but they contain a subtle hint of color. She uses some orange for blazers, yellow for some of the blouses and in the patterned garments, royal blue for a gorgeous jumper and blouse, and then some red for more blazers, a jumper and some dresses. She is now one of my favorite designers! I like looking at her collections and seeing what her type of style is! Here are a few of my favorite garments from her 2012 Spring Collection:

Yall should all go check out Rachel Zoe's 2012 Spring Collection!!

Neutrals and Lace

So, I am a HUGE fan of neutrals. I don't wear a ton of bright, loud colors and I realized that neutrals are in this season. I was so excited! I tend to wear like a cream blouse with some wide leg pants and my Steve Madden glittered flats. The best part is that if you want some color, just add some teal earrings or throw a precious baby blue cardigan over the cream blouse and WA-LA! You have an adorable outfit!

Just like with any neutral piece, I am in love with lace. Lace is just so classy and chic and I love the floral patterned lace. I love pairing a gorgeous all lace cream dress with just a simple black heel and black and gold accessories. I am also a fan of the colored lace. I know it sounds gaudy, but if you pair it with the right shoes and accessories, then I think it looks fabulous and classy as well.

Wide Leg Pants and Chambray Tops

Chambray tops are a MUST have this season. I know what you are thinking, "denim with denim? REALLY?" Well, that is exactly what I thought. It is actually not too bad. You don't just have to wear a chambray top with denim bottoms either. There are so many things you can pair it with. How about a floral skirt, white cropped pants, black pants, pretty much anything! Add an adorable floral print scarf or any color you prefer as well as some chunky bracelets and you are good to go!

I am also thrilled that wide leg pants have made their way back. I was not a huge fan of the skin tight jeans and leggings. Wide leg jeans are classy and comfortable at the same time. I don't have to be worried about being squeezed to death in my skinny jeans anymore. I love the look and the fact that you can buy so many different kinds. A wide leg trouser is such a great find, too! They look fabulous with heels or just a pair of adorable little flats!
